Why so many suicides in the military?
Posted on March 1, 2013 at 9:10 PM |
Ever wondered why there are so many suicides in the military these days? Have we just become so soft as a society that our warriors are no longer up to the job, or is there something else going on? Both the American and Australian military have chosen to go down the medical/psychiatric path when responding to sevice personnel trauma. This means essentiall, they have been drugged en masse. Counselling is often offered as well, however the study of pharmacogenetics makes it clear that people are different in terms of how well their system will respond to psychiatric drugs such as SSRI antidepressants (see FAQ- What is Pharmacogenetics?). The proposition put forth in the attached article is that our service personnel are not only suffering from war related trauma, but are also suffering from the psychiatric drug treatment they receive as a result. Many are not coping and sadly take their lives as a result.
