Is being human now a disorder?

Posted on April 3, 2013 at 7:25 PM

The attached article presents a personal tragedy, the type of which is becoming more endemic in our society. It also reflects the increasing role which biological psychiatry and pharmaceutical companies play in the pathologising of ordinary life- what i refer to as the Pharmacological Creep. This represents a major re-writing of what it means to be human, and places all of us in greater peril. And the bottom line is a combination of big bucks for Big Pharma, and prestige/status for psychiatry, which for many generations was disregarded as 'medicine's bastard son'.
